NEWS

Tom Woodard, National Black Golf Hall of Fame - Joins the WOCG and MOCG Mission and Golf Movement

Tom Woodard is believed to have been the first Black golfer to earn NCAA division I All American recognition, having been awarded the distinction in 1978, while attending and playing for the University of Colorado as an Evans Scholar.

He twice qualified for the PGA Tour, in 1981 and 1984, and played in a US Open and PGA Championship. Following his competitive playing days, he landed his first Head Pro job at City Park Golf Course, in Denver, CO, where he had learned to play as a teenager. He quickly established himself as a successful businessman and leader, and earned membership into the PGA of America. In time, he would advance and become the Director of Golf for the City of Denver.

Tom has been inducted into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame and the Colorado Hall of Fame.

He has now volunteered to offer his expert guidance and counsel with the Women of Color Golf (WOCG) and Men of Color Golf (MOCG) organization in Tampa, Florida, to create a movement to mobilize and encourage more minorities to learn the game of golf
